Sitework & Earthwork Estimating Services in Georgia
Accurate cut-and-fill, grading, utilities, paving and erosion-control estimates for Georgia site contractors, general contractors and developers. We model earthwork volumes from your civil plans and price them with current Georgia equipment, trucking and labor rates.
What does a sitework and earthwork estimate include?
A sitework estimate prices everything outside the building footprint and below finished grade: clearing and grubbing, erosion and sediment control, mass grading (cut and fill), import or export of soil, rock excavation, building pads, storm drainage, water and sewer utilities, curb and gutter, paving, striping and site concrete. Earthwork quantities are calculated by comparing existing and proposed surfaces, then adjusted for soil swell and shrink.
Overview
Sitework Is Where Georgia Budgets Win or Lose
On many Georgia projects — especially warehouses, subdivisions and multifamily — sitework is the most variable cost line. Red clay, granite outcrops, steep North Georgia slopes and strict stormwater rules can swing a budget dramatically. Getting quantities right is essential for both bidding and budgeting.
We calculate cut and fill from existing and proposed contours or surfaces, apply shrink/swell factors, identify import/export, and take off every utility run, structure and paving section. Pricing reflects Georgia equipment rates, haul distances and dump fees.
Sitework often pairs with Concrete Estimating Services for site concrete and with Industrial Estimating Services for large pads.

How Are Earthwork Quantities Calculated?
Earthwork is measured by comparing the existing ground surface with the proposed grading surface. The difference yields cut (soil removed) and fill (soil placed) volumes in bank cubic yards. Because excavated soil expands (swell) and compacted fill shrinks, we adjust volumes to determine truckloads and whether the site balances or requires import or export. Georgia’s clay soils often have significant shrink when compacted, while rock requires separate pricing for ripping, hammering or blasting. Topsoil stripping, undercut of unsuitable soils and over-excavation allowances are listed separately so you can see the risk items.
Common Sitework & Earthwork Estimating Mistakes — and How We Avoid Them
Most lost margin in Sitework & Earthwork work comes from a handful of repeat mistakes. Our checklist-based takeoff and senior QA review are designed to catch them before your bid goes out:
- Ignoring shrink and swell, which turns a ‘balanced’ site into an expensive import job
- Missing undercut of unsuitable soils called out only in the geotechnical report
- Underestimating erosion-control maintenance over a long schedule
- Forgetting utility tie-in fees, bore crossings and traffic control
- Pricing rock as common excavation
What to send for this estimate: civil plans (grading, utility, erosion control), the geotechnical report and any CAD surfaces, plus addenda, the project address and your bid due date. If you want pricing with your own labor rates or supplier quotes, include those too — we’ll build them into the estimate. Send files through Contact Us.
Georgia Insight
Georgia Sitework Cost Drivers
Granite & rock
Piedmont rock can require ripping, hammering or blasting.
Red clay
Clay needs moisture control and compaction testing; shrink factors matter.
Stormwater rules
Local stormwater ordinances drive pond and pipe quantities.
GA EPD erosion control
Erosion and sediment control plans and inspections are required on disturbed sites.
Haul & dump fees
Export distance and dump fees vary between metro and rural sites.
Rain delays
Heavy rain affects grading productivity and erosion maintenance.
